The planning and architecture of a city being planned by City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), Mumbai, will be totally based on geographical information system (GIS).
“We plan to make it a smart city, which is not just IT friendly but also environment friendly. In Naina we are using high-end technology called data survey where millions of points can be captured and obtained quickly against conventional manner of taking a tripod every five metres to take the survey. All plans, be it MMRDA or others have been put up on Google maps so people can see land and zones coming up," V Venugopal, OSD, Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area( NAINA), CIDCO told Governance Now in March.
