NAVI MUMBAI: City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) has allocated Rs 1.16 crore for infrastructure development
of Shelghar village in Ulwe. The residents had demanded gardens, gyms,
regular water supply and sewage treatment over the past year. They
approached their representatives and asked them to campaign for their
requests to Cidco.
"We demanded that Cidco allocate funds for the infrastructure development of the villages in Ulwe, especially Shelghar, Gavhan and Koper. After persistent requests, Cidco's MD Sanjay Bhatia has sanctioned Rs 1.16 crore for Shelghar village," said Panvel MLA Prashant Thakur.
Bhatia said the infrastructure development was on the cards and the persistent demands quickened the process. "Cidco has allocated Rs 200 crore for infrastructure development of the villages under its jurisdiction. Rs 1.16 crore will be spent for amenities in Shelghar village. Depending on the nature of work, the funds shall be allocated to the village grampanchyat," he said. Mahendra Gharat, president, Indian National Trade Union Congress said consistent campaigning for the past three years had gotten them this allocation. "Rs 1 crore has already been spent by Cidco for laying water pipelines from Hetawane dam till the Gavhan village. Now from Monday, the villagers in Gavhan shall receive regular water supply," he said.
